Linked to viticulture for generations, today’s winery is based on Christian Friedrich’s decision in 1992 – initially as a sideline and from 1996 full time – to fathom and decipher the true soul of the Blaue Wildbacher grape. From the beginning with the unlimited support of Isabella Friedrich, the intensive work and the will to make more of this grape than the classic Schilcher was crowned with success early on. Not only for die-hard Schilcher connoisseurs but also and especially for skeptics of the variety, the winery quickly gained a reputation as a center and source of information on Schilcher expansion. Working out the taste of a region and being able to feel the diverse tones of a single grape on the palate was the goal and the challenge right from the start The passion was already passed on to the next generation, who were just as successful in realizing their vision of the grape. One is excited and optimistic about who will elicit further secrets and treasures from the Schilcher grape.
